Thank you for those that have contacted us volunteering to deploy to our neighboring counties, we sincerely appreciate it. As an organization we are currently in a wait and see stance with no current deployment requests. At this time we ask that you be on stand-by for a potential EOC activation in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>Detail:<\/p>\n<p>There are three points we would like to address, deployment, Hillsborough County Emergency Management&#8217;s current posture regarding EOC activation and local storm impact (along with links to where you can find the current forecast for our area).<\/p>\n<p>DEPLOYMENT STATUS:<\/p>\n<p>We are currently not requesting any Hillsborough County ARES\/RACES team members to deploy to any neighboring counties. This is a request from the WCF ARES section. We may need volunteers here at home.<\/p>\n<p>ACTIVATION STATUS:<\/p>\n<p>Hillsborough County Emergency Management&#8217;s current posture regarding activation is &#8216;wait and see&#8217;. There&#8217;s not a large wind threat currently forecasted for us but there may be a large influx of our neighbors from the east fleeing Hurricane Matthew. Opening shelters cannot be ruled out at this point.<\/p>\n<p>At this time we ask that you be on stand-by for a potential EOC activation in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>IMPACT:<\/p>\n<p>From the NWS in Ruskin:<br \/>\n509 PM EDT Wed Oct 5 2016<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; Tropical storm watch in effect&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A tropical storm watch means tropical storm wind conditions are<br \/>\npossible somewhere within this area and within the next 48 hours<\/p>\n<p>* locations affected<br \/>\n&#8211; Tampa<br \/>\n&#8211; Apollo Beach<br \/>\n&#8211; westchase<\/p>\n<p>* wind<br \/>\n&#8211; latest local forecast: below tropical storm force wind<br \/>\n&#8211; peak wind forecast: 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; current threat to life and property: elevated<br \/>\n&#8211; the wind threat has remained nearly steady from the<br \/>\nprevious assessment.<br \/>\n&#8211; Remain braced against the reasonable threat for tropical<br \/>\nstorm force wind of 39 to 57 mph.<br \/>\n&#8211; To be safe, efforts should fully focus on avoiding injury.<br \/>\nProperties remain subject to limited wind impacts.<br \/>\n&#8211; Now is the time to hide from the wind. Failure to<br \/>\nadequately shelter may result in serious injury. Remain<br \/>\nsheltered until the hazardous wind subsides.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Potential impacts: unfolding<br \/>\n&#8211; potential impacts from the main wind event are unfolding.<br \/>\n&#8211; The extent of realized impacts will depend on the actual<br \/>\nstrength, duration, and exposure of the wind as experienced<br \/>\nat particular locations.<\/p>\n<p>* Flooding rain<br \/>\n&#8211; latest local forecast:<br \/>\n&#8211; peak rainfall amounts: additional around 1 inch<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; current threat to life and property: none<br \/>\n&#8211; the flooding rain threat has remained nearly steady from<br \/>\nthe previous assessment.<br \/>\n&#8211; Emergency considerations need not include a threat for<br \/>\nrainfall flooding. Locally heavy rain and nuisance flooding<br \/>\nmay still occur.<br \/>\n&#8211; Little to no preparations needed to guard against excessive<br \/>\ntropical rainfall.<br \/>\n&#8211; Ensure readiness for the next tropical rainfall event.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Potential impacts: little to none<br \/>\n&#8211; little to no potential impacts from flooding rain.<\/p>\n<p>* Tornado<br \/>\n&#8211; latest local forecast:<br \/>\n&#8211; situation is unfavorable for tornadoes<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; current threat to life and property: none<br \/>\n&#8211; the tornado threat has remained nearly steady from the<br \/>\nprevious assessment.<br \/>\n&#8211; Emergency considerations need not include a threat for<br \/>\ntornadoes.
